FAQ's

Is training required?

No. If you have people who have a lot of experience implementing prevention programs, they may not need training. The keys are that they feel comfortable with a "narrative-based" curriculum (i.e., they know how to get the students to tell stories), work with video, and understand cultural grounding. If you need training, a one-day workshop is available to train your implementers or your trainers.

Who does keepin' it REAL work with the best?

kiR was created for the middle schools in Phoenix. It is based on their stories that are told be videos that their high school students created. As a result, it is most appropriate for 7th and 8th graders in the southwest.

Can it be adopted for other uses?

Of course, older students may need a little more sophisticated content and those in other areas will need to be asked about what goes on in their neighborhoods. Ideally, school can create their own videos working with keeping' it REAL staff. This is currently being done for high schools in Delaware.
